Lecture: Marine Art of Yesterday and Today
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum & History Center
Description: On Thursday, October 1st at 7pm come hear Russell Jinishian present his lecture, Marine Art of Yesterday and Today and enjoy a fascinating slide presentation that chronicles the history of marine art, highlighting key artists and their most important works.
Hear about the beginnings of this traditional art form in 17th Century Holland when the Dutch dominated the seas and trade routes to the Far East. Learn how the art form changed as Great Britain took control from the Dutch and how today’s marine artists embrace all aspects of life on and around the sea, yielding the widest depth and breadth of marine art ever seen before. The lecture will be followed by a question and answer period.
Bound for Blue Water, written by Mr. Jinishian, will be available for sale and signing.
Please pre-register by calling 203-259-1598.
Fee: Free for museum members; $5 for non-members.
