Fall Festival
Time: 11:00 am
Location: 370 Beach Road
Description: The Town Green is transformed into an old time marketplace and fair, featuring a vintage baseball exhibition game played by the Newtown Sandy Hooks. Stroll through the marketplace to see beekeepers, a blacksmith demonstration, goat milk soaps and local fruit and vegetable stands. Stroll through the Sun Tavern, Academy Schoolhouse and create your own baseball pennant cheering your favorite team in the KidZone.
The day will feature two exhibition vintage baseball games featuring the Newtown Sandy Hooks at 11am and 1pm in the field behind the museum.
Fee: Free community event.

Description: Julie wants to try out for the boys basketball team, will she succeed? Learn about “Bloomer Girls” and women breaking barriers in sports. We’ll have a fun snack inspired by the 1970s and make our own souvenirs.

Location: Fairfield Museum & History Center
Description: Saturdays, July 17, August 21 and September 18 Learn about the founding of Fairfield and its fascinating colonial history in this walking tour. We’ll visit the historic buildings on and around the Green. Tours may include the Old Academy Schoolhouse, the Sun Tavern and the Old Burying Ground.

Baseball in Japan
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road
Description: Mr. Sakamaki, President of the Japan Society of Fairfield County, will present the Japanese perspective on baseball and how the game can transform in another culture.
Special guest Bobby Valentine will also share his experiences in Japan. Mr. Valentine is a former Major League Baseball player and was the manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan from 2004 - 2008. He is the owner of the Bobby Valentine’s Sports Gallery Café in Stamford and is currently an analyst on ESPN.

Volunteer Orientation
Time: 2:00 pm
Description: 2pm – 3:30pm
Do you love history and have a knack for telling a good story? Become a Museum Ambassador! Learn more at the museum’s Volunteer Orientation.
The Education Department is looking for museum docents to lead tours to groups of all ages. Docents are super-volunteers: teachers and storytellers who love to learn and to share their interests with others. Participants in the training sessions will meet new people with similar interests, learn about the community and share their own experiences with the group.
