Baseball Breaking Barriers
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road
Description: Craig Davidson, filmmaker and baseball historian, will present his compelling film There was always Sun Shining Someplace: Life in the Negro Baseball Leagues, which chronicles the rich history of the Negro Baseball Leagues that flourished before Jackie Robinson integrated the major leagues in 1947.
Winner of national and international awards and narrated by James Earl Jones, the documentary features interviews with baseball Hall of Famers and rare historical footage showing ballplayers as they traveled the backroads of America.
The film is 55 minutes long and will be followed by a discussion of African American ball players with special guest Craig Kelly, former president of the NAACP, Bridgeport Chapter.

Josefina’s Traditions

Description: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Josefina. Papa loses many sheep in a big storm – how will the family survive? Learn about the importance of wool in many cultures and make a Mexican shawl for your doll. We’ll make easy empanadas as a snack!

Meet Michael Bielawa or Don Harrison, who will share their passion for all things baseball in guided tours of the exhibit.
Hear the fascinating stories of teams and players who played in Connecticut that only these local experts can share! You’ll find it hard to resist the enthusiasm for baseball that unites so many fans.
Both Bielawa and Harrison are authors, historians and avid fans who served as advisors to the Museum’s baseball exhibit.

Haunted Baseball & Field of Screams
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road
Description: Baseball and ghost stories are American obsessions. The book "Haunted Baseball" combines both with this fun and freaky collection of otherworldly yarns. Collected from baseball players, stadium personnel, front-office folks, and fans, co-author Dan Gordon will explore the spooky connection between baseball and the paranormal. In addition to "Haunted Baseball," Mr. Gordon will discuss material from his new book, "Field of Screams: Haunted Tales from the Baseball Diamond, the Locker Room, and Beyond.."

About Dan Gordon
Gordon's writings have appeared in the Providence Journal, Fort Worth Star, San Juan Star, NINE, Elysian Fields Quarterly and Scribners Encyclopedia of American Lives. He co-authored the regional bestseller Cape Encounters: Contemporary Cape Cod Ghost Stories and contributed two essays to the global baseball book, Baseball without Borders: The International Pastime. He lives and dies with the Red Sox.
