Exhibit: Keep ‘Em Coming: World War II Poster Art

Thursday, May 15 at 6pm: A Special Preview for Members

Exhibit Open May 16 - August 10, 2008

Just in time for Memorial Day, Fairfield Museum presents an exhibit of dramatic World War II posters. Designed to galvanize public support, these posters cover topics such as the impact of ‘loose talk,’ the benefits of conservation and war production and the importance of purchasing war bonds. The artwork features some of the nation’s foremost artists of the time including Norman Rockwell and Jean Carlu.

Fairfield's Jewish Community

On view through May 11      

Trace the histories of Jewish settlement and synagogues in our area and you will uncover fascinating stories of immigration and adaptation dating back to the early 1700's. Discover the distinctive traditions and important contributions woven into the fabric of this community.  These topics, along with the precious objects of Judaica representing holiday traditons, home observance, and synagogue worship are presented in this new, fascinating exhibit.  All are encouraged to come and celebrate the history of Fairfield's Jewish Community.  Programming is generously supported by the Meshberg Family.

Free for museum members, non-members: $5.

Memorial Day Community Picnic

Monday, May 26

After the parade, continue the fun! Bring your blankets to the Fairfield Museum for an afternoon of games, food and shopping at our garden shed. There is even an opportunity to participate in creating a human flag! The museum will be free of charge to all who come. Please call 203-259-1598 if you'd like to participate in the human flag!


Fall Festival!

Sunday, September 14

Music, crafters, children’s activities and more are all in store for a community-wide celebration on Fairfield’s historic Town Green. While last year celebrated the museum’s grand opening, this year will honor Native American heritage. Come make a Native American craft, listen to a storyteller and participate in a demonstration of Eagle and Condor dances. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The museum will be free of charge for the day and the Junior Women’s Club craft fair will be held on the green, along the Old Post Road.


Connecticut Open House Day

Saturday, June 14   12pm - 4pm

Discover the wealth of treasures in our own backyard. Free admission to the museum! Meet members of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Old Academy 19th century replica schoolroom on the historic Town Green.
